Questions & Answers

Can’t I just embed Google Maps on my own homepage?

Absolutely. However, an embedded map can only be a one-way communication between your readers and you. We’ve designed SocialMap to allow for users to edit, comment on, upload photos and videos of any content you add to a map. You can also have filters and categories of locations on a map, or search a database and only show results that fit a certain criteria.

Why does SocialMap work?

Over the years of Internet marketing, two proven methods have evolved as the most effective for gaining and retaining consistent and relevant traffic to your site:

  • Provide useful, hard-to-find information that is easy and fun to navigate.
  • Engage users in a manner that allows them to extend their identity in a positive way through your site.

SocialMap focuses users on both of these methods allowing them to find and locate information that is vital and relevant, while inviting users to contribute by adding, revising, commenting, and removing that content. Users are also able to interact through traditional means like forums and blogs, capitalizing on these proven methods of engagement.

How is social map different than other social networks?

Social networks are often focused on wide ranging markets, and focus mainly on the connection between people online. We see this as very valuable, but believe that by creating networks based on helping users also find and connect to each other in the analog world is also very powerful. We also have features that incorporate physical locations, whether they be a happy hour, a surf shop, or a knitting store.

SocialMaps thrive in the most passionate, active user communities. These are also the consumers who buy more often and help spread the word of your brand for you.

How will SocialMap help my business?

Obviously, results and scenarios will differ for every company, but we believe SocialMap has the potential to help any company looking for a closer connection to their community online.

For example, a small, local company can benefit by establishing itself as a major sponsor of the online community, providing active forums, and holding events that give back to the community in which your users participate.

For larger companies, SocialMap may help them roll out a national marketing effort, tying several different levels of interaction with their users together, while also providing a location for those users to participate in a community.

Larger brands can use SocialMap to illustrate and disseminate information about their global event tours, and allow participation by the audience before and after the events. SocialMap acts as a conduit for getting location and event-based information out to a crucial audience, while allowing them to maintain a connection with the brand and company sponsors.

What about content moderation?

Every SocialMap has the functionality for moderators to approve content before it’s posted to the live site. There are user-friendly administration tools for moderators and content managers to post new content, approve user-generated content, edit and delete any and all content from the live website.
